£10million GP centre proposed

Proposals for a new £10million GP centre in Bedford will be unveiled today.

NHS Bedfordshire say they would like to move 5 existing GP surgeries (De Parys Surgery, 2 Goldington Road Surgery, Goldington Avenue Surgery, Lansdowne Surgery and Pemberley Surgery) into the purpose built facility, planned for Kimbolton Road.

The practices have already written to their patients, explaining why they are in favour of the move.

Although plans are at a very early stage, if all goes smoothly the new centre could be up and running 2012/2013.

Sandy Burton, Premises Development Manager at NHS Bedfordshire told us: "It won't be one big poly-clinic. It will be individual surgeries, with their own discreet areas. So, patients will still deal with the same reception staff, the same GP's and the same people, that they were before."

Three public drop-in sessions are being held to explain the plans to patients, they are:

3rd November, 2-8pm at St Andrews Church, Kimbolton Road
4th November, 12-6pm at Bedford Rugby Club, Goldington Road
24th November, 2-8pm at Quaker House, Lansdowne Road.
