Chiltern Radio Public File
Each local commercial radio station in the UK has requirements in respect of its music and local content, such as news, speech levels etc. These requirements are set out in the station "Format", a document issued by Ofcom, the UK's radio regulator.
This Public File contains details of the elements that Ofcom regulate, such as music tracks, local news etc. It is intended to give you a better understanding of our output and what we are doing for our local community.

News Bulletins
Weekdays
Chiltern Radio broadcasts news bulletins on the half-hour between 0600 and 0900 and hourly from 0900 and 1900. These bulletins contain a full mix of local, national and world stories, along with sport, weather and entertainment news.
Weekends
Bulletins containing local, national and world news are broadcast on Chiltern Radio between 0800 and 1200. Additional national bulletins are broadcast from 2200 through until 0500 seven days a week.

Automated programming:
Chiltern Radio automates between 13:00 and 14:00 weekdays.
Monday-Thursday is More Music Variety non-stop
Friday is Work Place Playlist.
There is no other automated programming on Chiltern Radio.
Local programming: The amount of local programming per day produced by the station: -
Chiltern Radio's weekday output from 0600hrs until 1000hrs, 13:00 until 19:00 and weekend output from 0800hrs to 1200hrs on both Saturday and Sunday is produced and presented from our Bedford studios.
Off peak programming (Evening Show, The Wind-down, Music on Demand, Party Anthems, Hit 40UK, Jeremy Kyle and Jason Donovan) is produced at various studios, owned and operated by Chiltern Radio's parent company GCap Media plc

Ofcom, the government regulator with responsibilities for local radio, has produced localness guidelines that this station adheres to. These guidelines can be read here
In addition all local radio stations have written ‘formats' that they must follow at all times. You can read ours here

Charities support or coverage: We support a number of local charities through our Help a Chiltern Child foundation. We give a lot of coverage to Race For Life events in our area, supporting Cancer Research UK.
Macmillan Coffee Mornings and the 10k Midnight walk are all events we support annually.
We also regularly visit and open charitable fairs, open days and fetes with the Thunder Crew at weekends.

Recent programme and/or news highlights: Chiltern Radio also plays an active role in promoting and participating in the bi-annual Bedford River Festival. We collate, produce and edit material onsite and broadcast both on air and online to give maximum coverage to the region's biggest outdoor event.
